Qualified Counsellors:

The task of a supervisor encompasses the building of a working alliance between supervisor and counsellor in order that this alliance provides a safe environment for the exploration of the therapeutic relationship between the counsellor and client.

I therefore offer supervision to experienced and trained counsellors in a collegial and supportive manner.  I respect their areas of expertise and work with them in a way that meets their needs and level of training.

The safety of the client is paramount in the counselling relationship and, as an accredited member of BACP, the BACP  Ethical Framework is the bedrock of the work that is done in supervision.

And if you are not yet accredited and working towards accreditation, I can support you in this process.

Students:

As your supervisor, I can support you in all aspects of your new practice. All the difficulties of 'finding your feet' in a new role can be brought to supervision and discussed.

Your work with clients is explored in depth during supervision and we will become aware of how this work is impacting you, as well as your clients. We will look closely at the deveopment of the therapeutic alliance, the safety of the client, boundary issues and alternative approaches when considering, in depth, what the client is bringing to the sessions.

As a student supervisor I will encourage your abilities, skills and creativity, whilst helping you to develop your competency and awareness and expand your repertoire of skills and knowledge.

I am happy to provide appraisals in whatever format is required by your training body.

Testimonials:

"One of the many reasons for approaching Anne to be my supervisor was that I knew that she had the ability to be caring, inspiring and motivational as well as a strong ability to hold me safely within clear boundaries; something I would like to think I can pass on to my own clients and supervisees” J (qualified counsellor)

"I never felt Anne gave me anything but her full attention and she would listen intently to all of my client reviews without judgement. She did not, however, give me an easy ride! Anne would ask me insightful questions, make challenges, and encourage me to examine how I might do things differently. Yet all of this was done with warmth, compassion and gentle understanding. As the months progressed so too did my confidence and I was beginning to feel that I was becoming a 'proper' counsellor". D (student)

Deciding if I am the right supervisor for you....

In order for the supervisee to gain the most benefit from supervision it is important that there is a relationship of mutual respect and trust between supervisor and supervisee. I therefore invite you to an initial 30 minute meeting so that we can discuss your requirements for supervision before committing to working together.  The cost of this meeting is £18.

Ongoing charges are £55 per hour, £80 per 1.5 hours with a limited number of student concessions. (Please enquire).

I work from Newton Abbot primarily and am available during the daytime and early evening.

I qualified in Supervision in 2007 and have since worked as the sole tutor delivering an Advanced Diploma training in Clinical Supervision.
