About Anne

I have built up my counselling experience since my early twenties when in the 1970’s I was a volunteer at the Samaritans after relevant training,  achieved a Certificate in Counselling and then became a volunteer counsellor at a youth advisory project.

In the 1980’s I qualified in social work and worked on the Forensic Ward of a psychiatric hospital where I was mentored in Transactional Analysis. In a later placement I worked alongside my tutor offering couples counselling. I then worked on the cancer wards of a major teaching hospital offering bereavement counselling to patients and carers and running workshops at the nursing school on ‘Basic Counselling Skills and ‘Death and Dying’. Following this period I worked with patients who had contracted AIDs. I later qualified as a mental health specialist.

In the 1990’s I studied Solution Focused Brief Therapy and and in 1994 achieved a Diploma in Individual and Relationship Counselling.

In 1999 I started a private practice in counselling, psychotherapy and supervision in Newton Abbot.
